Identity of Tsukasa! Who is Tsukasa? (ToniKawa)
Tonikaku Kawaii (ToniKawa, Over the Moon For You) is RomCom (Romance, comedy). anime adapted from the manga. The story starts with Nasa Yuzaki, who is determined in leaving his name in the history books. He ranks first in the national mock exam aiming for distinguished school. One snowy evening returning home, Nasa's finds a peerless beauty across the street. But while trying to approach her, he is blindsided by oncoming truck and gets hit.

Thanks to the girl, his condition was not life threatening due to the girl's swift action. But he still needed hospitalization as there was bleeding. While the girl walks away, he watches her under the moonlight which reminds him of Princess Kaguya leaving for the moon. Thinking that he would not meet her again, he forces his injured body to chase her and ask her out. After finding her out, he ask the girl out and she agrees to accept it only if he marries her! Later, after some time, the girl mysteriously finds him when Nasa turns 18 revealing her name as Tsukasa with a marriage form. Nasa fills the form and they are officially married. After that, the daily romcom between couple begins.

You may have noticed that not much about Tsukasa has been revealed in anime. Still many things are mysterious about her even at the end of Season 1. But there have been many things that hints about her identity throughout the series.

Who is Tsukasa?

To discuss about Tsukasa's identity lets go through season 1 and different hints that may help us finding out. We are initially shown in the series that while saving Nasa, Tsukasa dealt much of the damage, which must have killed her, which was also witnessed by a bystander. But she was completely fine. Later when Nasa again met her. There was a weird phrase she said, "You only have one life". While it may sound completely normal generally, as mysterious her identity is, it's really something to think about. If we think about it may mean that she is capable of reincarnating, not dying or something like immortal. It must have normally meant to depict the fragility of human life too. But lets not go deeply on that phrase.

Another is when Nasa said while she was leaving him, she looked like Princess Kaguya moving to the moon. Okay, this is the point where the story gave us some hint about Tsukasa making it more mysterious and think deeply about her identity.

Also, when Chitose knew about Nasa and Tsukasa's marriage, she did not accept it. She had also said a phrase like "You know nothing about her". Well, it's generally normal in anime for someone to not accept in the similar manner. But, if you think about it. You will get the feeling like, as a being you are or someone mortal who just knew her, Tsukasa whom I have known for centuries cannot be with you. You cannot understand her loneliness and something like that. Okay, that is more far fetching. But wait, there are things that may support my statements. You notice that Tsukasa who isn't interested much in history knows about something that happened thousands of years ago. While visiting Nasa house, on the trip, Tsukasa makes different remarks about the history that hints about her being on that time. While clicking a selfie picture in front of shrine, Nasa said that the Prince Shotoku would get mad seeing them in front of his shrine. But Tsukasa laughed and said, "He would never get mad over something like this". She sounded like talking from familiarity with Prince Shotoku or it may just be my speculation.

There was also a time while Tsukasa was visiting Nasa's father's room of collection of books, she found a book with old script and it seemed she fully understood it while Nasa could not understand it. Next time, when Nasa was sick, Tsukasa also said that she does not get hurt or get sick while Nasa didn't made any sense out of it due to his fever.

Also, Tsukasa's interest to take photos also hints that she wants to capture moments and have lots of memories as she can do it now due to technology which she could not before. Moreover, while in Chitose's and Tsukasa's house there was a moonstone which Chitose said to be important to Tsukasa. Thinking about it, normal people can't get moonstone. So, there must be some connection of her to the moon. In Chitose's memory of them shows them still the same as her memory, which means they don't age or age somewhat slower.

So, what is her identity? Her identity is still mysterious. She may be immortal, reincarnation of Princess Kaguya, or Princess Kaguya herself. I hope this does not count as a spoiler but ToniKawa's creator said in a interview that he changed the story as Tsukasa's backstory was longer and decided to reveal giving hints progressively.

Why does it matter?

It does not matter much in a romcom series like this. All the speculation made here may not all make sense as it is only made by taking a particular scene and words. But, there is still a feeling like there may be some incidents in the future relating to Tsukasa's identity and her backstory.

Regardless, ToniKawa is a heart warming, wholesome anime. It shows a lovely young wed couples about their daily life and happenings. If you have more ideas or if you think I missed something or misinterpreted, said something wrong in this post or about Tsukasa's identity and her backstory then you can comment down to start a discussion.
